Fun in the Mail

Wednesday:
  • $10 off Craftsman C3 Tool at Sears Gift Card from Vocal Point
  • Free Clif Bar Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookie + Sticker (Facebook offer)
Thursday:
  • Sample of Garnier Fructis Pure & Clean Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Replacement Coupon for Any Size Secret Clinical Deodorant from P&G
I purchased a secret clinical deodorant a while ago and started using it a few weeks ago, but when I opened the packaging the sticker seal on the top of the actual deodorant kind of fused to the plastic and it ripped when I tried to remove it. This meant I had a rough area on the applicator that would scratch my underarm every time I used it. So, I emailed P&G's customer service and told them about it. They emailed me back within 20 minutes apologizing for the issue and told me a replacement coupon was in the mail and I needed to hold on to the defective one for 2 weeks in case they needed to collect it. So, now I get a free one to replace the bad one :)

 Saturday:
  • Samples of Aveda;s Smooth Fusion line with the Style-Prep Smoother, Shampoo and Conditioner (Facebook offer)
  • 4 Free Tena Pantyliners and $2 off coupon
I also got my prize!
I'm a big believer in giveaways - they only take a few minutes to enter and you never know what you could win! I entered a giveaway a week ago from Couponing To Disney and I won 2 Free $5 off $30 coupons for Publix! Woo Hoo :) Now I have to devise my plan of attack to use these before this Thursday :) Thanks Couponing To Disney and My Coupon Keeper for making me a winner :)

$2 off Ribs coupon!

Woo Hoo! Go here to print a coupon for $2 off Pork wyb Any KC Masterpiece Barbecue Sauce! The best part is, there was a $1 off KC Masterpiece coupon in the newspaper several weeks ago, so this could come out to a sweet deal.
*Meat coupons are very rare, so I definitely advise you print this now before it's gone. It expires in 1 month.

    Target & CVS Trips

In between my Publix trips, I made a quick trip to Target. My main reason for going was in hopes that they had restocked the John Frieda Full Repair items for the gift card deal, which it turned out they hadn't. But I wasn't going to let my trip be wasted :) Here is what I left with:

    • Fusion ProGlide 5 Cartridge Bonus Pack with Full Sized Shave Gel, clearance $9.98
    • Double pack of Fusion ProGlide Shave Gel, price cut to $6.49 - Used $3 off any ProGlide Shave Gel wyb any ProGlide Cartridges Target coupon from the 5/1 Target PG insert, $1 off any Pro Glide Shave Gel coupon from 6/5 PG insert and $2 off Any ProGlide Cartridges coupon from the ProGlide Challenge Razor sample = $0.49
    • 3 packs of Carefree Panyliners, $0.97 - Used 3 Free coupons from newspaper = 3 for Free
    • Bag of Lindt Fioretto Chocolates, clearance $1.62 - Used $1 off coupon from the June All You Magazine = 62¢
    • Bag of Ghiradelli Luxe Milk Chocolates, clearance $1.62 - Used $1 off coupon from the June All You Magazine - 62¢
    • Nature Valley Granola Bars with Yogurt, clearance $1.48
    • Double pack of Woolite Dark and Regular 100oz bottles, clearance $5.48 - Used $3 off coupon from the newspaper = $2.48
I knew if I waited I would be able to get that Woolite pack for less than I did last week, but I didn't want to chance there not being any left. Today, there was only one double pack left, but I was lucky to get that one :) I paid $1.24 per bottle :) So, my total for all of this was $17.09. Not bad :)

So, after my second Publix trip, I decided to swing by CVS and finally get the deals I had prepped for. Here is what I got:

    Transaction #1:
    • Green Leaf Bag Tag, 99¢ - Used Free coupon from magic coupon machine (this was from several weeks ago, but they were out of the tags so they said they would honor the coupon when more tags came in) = Free
    • 2 L'Oréal Colour Riche Anti Aging Lipsticks, $5 each on sale (normally $10.79 each) - Used two $2 off coupons from the newspaper and $3 off any $10 cosmetics purchase CVS crt coupon from the magic coupon machine = 2 for $3.00
Transaction #1 Total: $3.42. I used a $3 ECB from last week, so I paid 42¢ and received a $3 ECB from the L'Oréal and a $1 ECB from the green bag tag.

    Transaction #2:
    • 2 Gallons of TG Lee Milk, $3.69 each
    • Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara, clearance $2.07 - Used $1 off Any Rimmel Product coupon from the newspaper = $1.07
Transaction #2 Total: $8.57. I used the $4 of ECBs from Transaction#1 and paid $4.57 on my gift card and I received a $2 ECB from the milk.

I recommend you always take advantage of the ECB deals on the milk. It's a great way to make money on the things you know you need. Even though I could go to Aldi and get the milk cheaper, it ends up being cheaper when you factor in the other items I can get with the ECBs at CVS. So, you should definitely go out before Saturday to get your milk :)

    Today's Publix Trips

So, I know you must read the title of this and think I'm ridiculous for going to Publix more than once in a day. I honestly didn't mean for it to happen. I will explain as I go. I began with a trip to the PSJ Publix on my way home from work. Here is what I got from my first trip:
    • 10 Yoplait Yogurts, 20 for $10 - Used $1 off 8 coupon from the $15 GM coupon booklet and 50¢ off 10 Target printable coupon = 10 for $3.50
    • 2 boxes of Jala Frozen Yogurt Bars, $3.99 B1G1 - Used two 50¢ off printable coupons = 2 for $2.99
    • 2 boxes of Pierogies, $2.59 B1G1 - Used $1 off coupon from May All You Magazine = 2 for $1.59
    • Peter Pan (large size) Penut Butter, $2.69 - Used $1 off coupon from sample of Orville Reddenbacher Popcorn Bowl - $1.69
    • 10 Bic Soleil Disposable Razors (3 and 4 count), $5.49 each - Used rain check for B1G1 sale and ten $3 off coupons from newspaper = All Free + $2.55 overage
    • 4 cute, bright colored plastic baskets, clearance 2 for $1.99
I also used a $5 off $30 Publix coupon from the 6/1 Orlando Sentinel. My pre-coupon and sale total was $58.01 but I only paid $8.33. That's 86% savings! Woo Hoo!
I'm so glad I got this rain check! They ran out of the razors because of all the couponers and they have been out of stock ever since even at the warehouses. Even though I got the rain check on May 4 and Publix's rain check are supposed to be used within 30 days, they were more than happy to honor my check due to the fact that they have not had these in stock until now. I asked at the customer service desk before I checked out and they girl actually wrote me a new rain check and changed the date so the cashier would be able to put it through with no problems. So, if a store is out of a product, Always Ask For A Rain Check! This is a great way to make sure you always get the deals that you work so hard preparing for.
I was already happy with my purchases and after Publix, I headed to Target to see if they had restocked the John Frieda Full Repair products that they were out of on Monday. They were still out. Fortunately, I had a contingency plan :) I read on I Heart Publix about a deal on the same product at Publix, but the sale ended tonight. So, after my quick trip to Target, I headed to the Titusville (Knox McRae) Publix. Here is what I picked up there:
      • 10 John Frieda Full Repair - 5 shampoos and 5 conditioners, $2 off price cut to $3.49 - Used ten $2 off Any John Frieda Product coupons from the 6/5 SS insert, three $3 off 2 Full Repair Products Target coupons from the Beauty Bag mailer, and two $3 off 2 Full Repair Products Target printable coupons = 10 For Free + 10¢ overage!
      • Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellent, $4.19 - Used two $2 off Any Cutter Product printable coupons and two $2 off Target printable coupons = $0.19
      • Foot Long Buffalo Chicken Sub, on sale $6.99
      • 22oz Fountain Drink, $1.19 - Used Free 22oz Fountain Drink wyb Foot Long Buffalo Chicken Sub Publix printable coupon = Free
My pre-coupon and sale total was $71.53, after the sale was factored in it was $50.10. This was great! I knew I would be over $30 so I could use another $5 off store coupon, but the fact that it was over $50 meant I could use my $5 off $50 store coupon from the 6/1 Red Plum Mailer, saving my $5 off $30 coupon for next week's sale :) Hopefully this makes sense - it is much harder for me to arrange my coupons and sales on items I have space and/or a need for to make the total higher than $50. Most of my purchases lately have been between $30 and $45, so now I know I will be able to take advantage of all of the $5 off store coupons I have :)
Anyway - back to the total. Pre-coupons, the total was $50.10 but I only paid $4.74! That means I saved 93%! Holy crap! That's the best percentage I have saved ever :) So, even though I didn't get the $5 gift cards from Target, I still have the newspaper coupons I need to do that deal later on if they get more in stock and I can use my husband's computer to print the Target coupons, so I will be able to double dip on this deal :)

Another plus to my trips - I found a new coupon pamphlet!
This is the Why Dairy Makes Sense  coupon pamphlet. It lists all the dairy sales for June, which is apparently "Dairy Month", along with 6 Publix store coupons :)
      • $1 off Any 2 Ben & Jerry's or Starbucks Ice Cream Pints
      • $1 off Any 2 Cabot Cheese 8oz
      • $1 off Any Polly-O Mozzarella Chunk 8-16 oz or Ricotta 15-32 oz (excludes string cheese)
      • B1G1 Free Better'N Eggs Plus 14 oz
      • 65¢ off Any Promise Spread 15oz Bowl
      • 75¢ off Any Organic Valley Milk Half Gallon
All of these coupons expire June 17, which is a bit of a bummer to only have 1 week, but at least I found them at all :) If you go to the Knox McRae store, they are in the spinning display at the front with the weekly sale ads.

        Monday's Publix & Target Trips

Since I haven't had internet, I wasn't able to post them until now, but all of these deals are still available.

At lunch, I went to Publix:
        • 8 boxes of Ronzoni Garden Harvest Pasta, $1.89 B1G1 - Used eight $1 off coupons from the newspaper = 8 for Free + 44¢ overage
        • 3 tubes of Tylenol Precise Cream, price cut to $4.99 - Used three $5 off printable coupons = 3 for Free + 3¢ overage
        • 1 box of Tylenol Precise Patches, price cut to $4.99 - Used $5 off printable coupon = Free + 1¢ overage
        • 2 Foot Long Buffalo Chicken Tender Subs, on sale $6.99 each
        • 2 Fountain Drinks 22oz, $1.19 each - Used two Free wyb foot long buffalo chicken sub printable coupons
My pre-coupon and sale total was $67.63. I used a $5 off $30 Publix coupon on top of my other coupons and I only paid $9.49. I tried to pick up the Bayer Aspirin deal, but they were completely cleaned out, so I got a rain check :) But I will still check back this week to see if they restock.
Also, while I was there, I spotted this:
The You'll Melt For Sweet Summer Savings coupon booklet is in between the customer service desk and the pharmacy at the PSJ store. So hurry over and get one :)

After work, I went by Target:
        • Beatles Love T-Shirt, clearance $3.24
        • Goldeneye 007 Game Bundle with limited edition classic controller for the Wii, clearance $14.98
        • 2 Covergirl Nature Luxe Gloss Balms, $5.99 each - Used $5 off 2 coupon from 6/5 PG insert and two $1 off Target coupons from the Target Beauty Bag mailer = 2 for $4.98
        • 2 boxes of Nexcare Themed Bandaids, $1.68 each - Used two $1 off Target printable coupons and two 55¢ off coupons from the newspaper = 2 for 26¢
        • Dramamine Less Drowsy Formula, clearance $1.67 - Used $1.50 off printable coupon = 17¢
My total for everything here was $23.63! The best part was when I went to Walmart right after and saw this:
This was Walmart's clearance price for the same game I just bought. I love the back aisles of Target :)
I tried to get the John Frieda deal, but they were absolutely out of stock. I will check back later on in the week - hopefully they will get more before the gift card deal ends.

        Ask Megan: What are E-Coupons?

As always, this post was inspired by my dear Tara (who has pneumonia! Feel better babe!). She chopped my hair to perfection for me today and I let her look through my binder. She came across my UPromise cards and I realized I have never explained e-coupons before, so there is no time like the present :)
First of all, What is an E-Coupon?
E-Coupons are a new phenomenon that are available to help you save money. Most any store that has their customers use a store frequency card to get the best deals (ex. Winn-Dixie, CVS, etc.) are able to have coupons loaded onto them via the internet. Some of these coupons literally mean that the money will come off your bill like a paper coupon, while others can be used in addition to paper coupons and they work more like a money matched savings fund.

        Where Do You Get E-Coupons?
In my little corner of Florida's Space Coast, we only have a few stores that have frequency cards: CVS and Winn-Dixie. Both of these stores encourage signing up for these cards by offering sales and offers for card members only, like how CVS gives you Extra Care Bucks (ECBs). If you do not have a CVS card, you will not get your ECBs, so why wouldn't you sign up, right? Anyway, CVS and Winn-Dixie actually are not eligible for e-coupons that take money off your bill, so I have never used any of those types of services, so I unfortunately don't have any good advice on using these services. I know that many avid couponers like Cellfire though, and I totally wish they worked here!
Because I can't use the traditional type of e-coupon, I have learned about the alternate type - they kind that work like a savings account. Specifically, I like to use Savings Star and UPromise.
UPromise was my first experience with this type of couponing. I saw a blog post on Couponing To Disney about the program, and decided to give it a try. I had seen others with a little green Publix tag card on their keys for years, but I always thought it was a college savings program. Well, it actually is designed to help you save for college, but it is not limited to a college fund and anyone can set up an account!
To Get Started you need to
        1. Go to your local Publix service desk and request a UPromise card. They will give you a plastic sheet with one full sized card and 3 or 4 key tag cards on it, all with the same account number.
        2. When you get home, sign up for a UPromise account.
        3. Add your Publix card number to your account.
That's It! If you have any other store frequency cards you want to add to your account, you can enter your zip code and see which stores come up as eligible for the program and add the card numbers like you did with the Publix one.

How Do You Load Coupons Onto Your Card?
Now that you have an account, you can have a look at all the different ways you can earn money toward your  'fund.' UPromise offers many options - everything from cash back on online purchases to an actual UPromise credit card. The only option I have used are the grocery ecoupons.
Once you have signed in, you will notice a menu bar along the left side of your screen and one of the options is "Grocery eCoupons".
When you click the Grocery eCoupons tab, you will be taken to a large list of this month's offers. Many of the coupons are available each month, but there are always some new and some take away.
The list of coupons looks very similar to sites like coupons.com, with the coupon listed in a box and a button to 'select' that coupon. All you have to do is go down the list and click 'select' on the coupons you want added to your card. That's It! The best part is that if you have multiple cards loaded onto your account, these coupons are automatically applied to each card - you don't have to select them for each store.
*I recommend you select all of the coupons just on the off chance that you purchase an item you hadn't planned on. You just need to go on each month and select them and you're done! You also have the option of printing out a list of your coupons, which I also recommend. It's very easy to forget what you have coupons for, so print the list and stick it in your binder!
The other ecoupon service I use is called Savings Star, which works exactly the same way as far as signing up and loading your coupons. I love it when I can pair the two up with the same purchases :) It means double the savings!

        How Do You Use eCoupons?
Now that your card is loaded, you are ready to shop! You can plan out your trips with sales, like with any other coupons. The glory of these 'savings account style' coupons is that you can also use a physical 'paper coupon' on the same item at the same time!
        For Example:
Wacky Mac is a product that currently has both physical coupons and ecoupons available, so let's say Publix has Wacky Mac on sale for $1 per bag and I have a 40¢ off paper coupon, making me pay 60¢ for my bag. Also during my purchase, I have the cashier scan my UPromise card which has a 40¢ ecoupon for Wacky Mac. I still pay the 60¢, but an additional 40¢ has been placed into my UPromise account, so in the long run, I only paid 20¢! Now, let me repeat this does not change your out of pocket expense! These eCoupons are put into your account which can be cashed out later on.

How Do You "Cash Out" Your Earnings?
For UPromise, they really gear toward saving the money for college, so they will ask you to confirm your decision to cash out lots of times. You must reach an account balance of at least $10 for you to cash out, which is a pretty typical amount for these programs. For UPsomise, you just click 'use your earnings' and select 'request a check' to have a check mailed to you. You will have to fill out and mail in this redemption form and then just wait for your check!

I know this sounds complicated and I hope I didn't ramble too much and make it more confusing, but this really is an easy system. The hardest part for me is remembering to have the cashier scan my card at Publix :) I always remember at CVS and Winn-Dixie because they always ask me for it at checkout, so keep one of your cards on your keys and in your binder to help you remember!

I encourage everyone to give these programs a try. The ones I have listed are free, so if you don't like it, you're not out anything but a little bit of time :)
