I just read about this over on I Heart Publix and thought I would share :)
AdPerk is a website designed to help educate consumers on new products. Basically, they have videos that you watch to inform you about certain products, and by watching the video, you have access to exclusive coupons on some of the products shown. That's it! Sounds pretty easy to me :) I'm going to give this a try when I get home from work later.
*One deal with the current coupons is $2 off Prell Shampoo or Conditioner. Publix has Prell (I have to check our local stores to make sure, but it is sold in other Publix stores) and it's priced at $2.49, so it would be only 49¢ after the coupon from AdPerk :) Let me know if you find this deal in any of our local stores!

Fantabulous Food! Not Yo Mama's Banana Pudding
This is a recipe that has given me undue fame with my husband's extended family. It is now automatically expected that I will make it for every get together - which I'm fine with because it's so easy to make :) This is a Paula Deen recipe (surprisingly, it doesn't contain butter), so I can't take credit for it, but man is it good.
Not Yo Mama's Banana Pudding by Paula Deen:
Ingredients:
1. Line the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2" dish with 1 bag of the Pepperidge Farm Chessmen Cookies. *I like to look through both bags and put any of the broken ones on the bottom - it makes the top look prettier :)
Slice bananas about 1/4 - 1/2 inch thick,
and layer the bananas over the cookies.
2. In a bowl, combine milk and pudding mix. *I always had made it with one large box of pudding mix and didn't pay attention to the actual weight listed on the box - It will work. But this time, the store was out of the large boxes, so I got 3 small boxes (which still only came out to 4.5 oz) and everyone remarked how it was better because it was thicker and more custard -like in the end.
Blend well with a wisk and set aside to thicken.
3. In another bowl, combine cream cheese and condensed milk.
Blend until smooth. I like to use a hand mixer - it just gets out any lumps the cream cheese may have left if you mix it by hand.
4. Fold whipped topping into cream cheese mixture.
*It is important that you do this by hand with a spatula or a spoon. You don't want to blend it in with a mixer - it will take away some of its' fluffiness.
To fold: Just scrap the spatula along the bottom and sides of your bowl and pull the stuff on the bottom over the top. Repeat until mixed completely.
5. Combine cream cheese mixture and pudding mixture.
Stir until well combined.
6. Pour mixture over cookies and bananas.
All in all this recipe only takes 15 or 20 minutes to make and everyone loves it! I would definitely advise making it the night before you want to eat it though as this gives the cookies time to soften. It's still good if you want to eat it immediately, just softer - more like traditional banana pudding - if you wait.
Even my sister who's favorite thing is my mom's made from scratch banana pudding (she actually cooks her pudding and everything so it's hot when it's first finished) love this recipe. It's just as good tasting but with less effort and time - sound like a winner to me :)
Not Yo Mama's Banana Pudding by Paula Deen:
Ingredients:
- 2 bags of Pepperidge Farm Chessmen Cookies
- 6-8 Bananas, sliced
- 2 cups Milk
- 1 (5oz) box Instant French Vanilla Pudding
- 1 (8oz) package Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 (14oz) can Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 (12oz) container Frozen Whipped Topping, thawed

5. Combine cream cheese mixture and pudding mixture.
Stir until well combined.
6. Pour mixture over cookies and bananas.
Spread out evenly to cover all the bananas.
7. Cover the pudding mixture with remaining bag of Chessmen cookies and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Here is the result:
I have also tried this same recipe using Sandies instead of Chessmen (they were on sale and the Chessmen are always kind of expensive) and it came out great. I even got creative once and made it with chocolate chip pecan Sandies - really as long as it's a shortbread cookie, it will work. The Chessmen just make the final product look cooler because of their designs.

Late Night at Walmart
Well, we all know how I only shop Walmart later at night :) Actually, tonight I think I went a little early. The aisles were kinda crowded which made it a bit more difficult to get to the items I wanted and then plan my mode of attack - so I will wait until later next time. On the bright side though, my cashier was very up on things. She knew what to do with the coupons that had overage and she had no problem price correcting an item that rang up wrong :)
I've developed a habit of starting my trip in my Walmart's "clearance section" which is actually a room at the front of the store that used to be a nail salon at the Titusville store. I just wander the room (which is seriously a big mess) with my coupon binder open and see what I can find. Here is what I found this time :)
This got2b product was on clearance for $2 and I just happen to have a $2 coupon from All You Magazine! Woo Hoo :) There were at least 10 of these on the shelf, so if you have the coupon too you should be on the lookout for it!
Here are the results of my night time venture:

My Final $5 Off Coupons At Publix
Tuesday night I had to return my free Blockbuster rental to the kiosk to keep from being charged. Around here, the only Blockbuster kiosks are inside Publix stores, so while I was there I decided to double check the expiration date of my $5 off $30 coupons - Man was it a good thing I did! My coupons that I won from Couponing To Disney are from the Alabama area and apparently their coupons expired on 6/14 instead of 6/15 like ours do here in Florida. So, I hurried around to snag my stuff before going coupon hunting with my sister.
Tuesday Night's Purchase:
- 8 bottles of V8 Splash Juice, $3.59 B1G1 - Used four $1 off 2 coupon from the 6/12 RP insert = $1.29 each
- 5 bottles of Wisk Detergent (50oz size), $6.99 - Used Rain Check from 2 weeks ago made them $3.99 each and used five $2 off Any Wisk Detergent coupons from the newspaper = $1.99 each
I used one of my $5 off $30 coupons I won (they expired on 6/14 because they were from Alabama - weird, I know) and my total was $17.37. Not too bad considering the price I got on the detergent and the juices were for my parents who paid me back for them :)
Transaction 1:
- 14 bottles of V8 Splash Juice, $3.59 B1G1 - Used four $1 off 2 coupon from the 6/12 RP insert = $1.29 each
- 2.07 lb package of Publix brand Fresh Bonesless Skinless Chicken Breasts, on sale $2.99 per lb = $6.19
At this point, I had the bagger girl all impressed. She thought it was great that I had a coupon for everything and I made sure to build up the next purchase. Just you wait, bagger girl...
Transaction 2:
- 12 bottles of Dial Body Wash, $3.91 B1G1 - Used twelve $2 off Any Dial Body Wash coupons from the 6/12 RP insert = 12 for Free + 54¢ overage!
- 1.96 lb package of Boneless Chuck Roast, on sale for $3.49 per lb = $6.84
Even with as well as I did this week with them, I have to say I'm actually a little glad that the $5 off coupons are officially expired. I got some great deals and freebies, but man was it a lot of work! I have been to Publix almost every day this week and it will be nice to just go once for a change. Now I can go back to my regular couponing until they come out with another irresistible deal for me to spend my time on :)

*Update on Pepsi Deal at CVS*
I posted about this deal that I got in my email from CVS yesterday and I went to take advantage of the offer and there were issues, so I wanted to let everyone know so you don't have any problems.
The deal was emailed around to CVS subscribers that you can go in to any store today only and when you scan you CVS card at the magic coupon machine, it would print you a coupon to get a 12 pack of Pepsi or Diet Pepsi for only 99¢. I just went in about 30 minutes ago and scanned my card - it said I had no coupons. I scanned it again - again, no coupons. So, I asked the nearest employee (who turned out to be a manager of some type) and he said that for some reason their machine wasn't printing them for anyone. There also happened to be another customer who was there for the same reason and she said it didn't print for her either. The man I spoke to asked me a how I found out about the deal and if my email said I needed to print anything out to bring with me and I told him no. So, they said it was no problem and they would just change the price by hand at the register.
So, when you go in, make sure you tell your cashier that you received the email and the coupon didn't print at their machine and they will still give you the deal. They said it was no problem at all, but that the customer had to be sure to tell them if they had any issues, or the Pepsi would just be rung up at regular price. They may fix this issue later in the day, but if you do have any problems, just make sure to mention the email and you will be fine :)

Ask Megan: How To Use Rain Checks
It may sound silly to a seasoned coupon user, but this is actually a subject that I was hesitant on until the last few months. My brain just couldn't accept that this was completely legal and fair - one of those too goo to be true type deals. But I am here to tell you, it is completely fair and stores encourage it! So here we go.
What is a rain check?
Think back to the last time you went into a store all excited about a sale they were having only to find that they didn't have any more of what you wanted. It's incredibly frustrating! And the longer you coupon, the more you will come across this issue because you are always shopping for the items with the best price - which always sell out first. So, since running out of sale items is an inevitability, most stores have a little piece of paper to try to restore your faith in their establishment: The Rain Check.
In a nutshell, a 'rain check' is a piece of paper guaranteeing you the same sale price you would have gotten had the item been in stock on the day you intended to purchase it. How great is that? Granted this doesn't always apply to every item and every deal (which I will explain shortly), but in general a rain check is a great way to still get the best deal when you can't find the item.
How do you get a rain check?
Obtaining this magical piece of paper is different for each store, but usually it consists of going to customer service and asking for one. At Publix, I love getting rain checks. They are always more than willing to give me one for any item that's on sale and usually they already know when an item is out of stock. Sometimes, they will call someone to check the stock in the back room first, but if they don't have any or don't have as many as you want, they will always issue you a rain check. At Target, if they already know that an item is out of stock, they will actually put a little peelie pad full of "rain check" forms where the item would be. You then have to take that check to a cashier and they will print out an actual rain check for you. At Target, they sometimes have to check the add before giving you a check to make sure that it is not listed as "while supplies last", but more often than not they are happy to issue you a rain check. Like I said, every store is different, so if you are curious about a certain stores policy on rain checks, just call up their customer service department.
How do you use a rain check?
Ok, so now that you have your rain check, how do you transform it into savings? Well, technically you can just walk up to a cashier with your items and tell them "I have a rain check" before they start ringing you up and hand it to them. Most rain checks will have a bar code to scan or a number to put into the store's system to access that price. If I am ever unsure about anything with my rain checks, I just get my items and go to customer service to ask first. If there are any potential problems that could arise that would need manager approval or something like that, the customer service rep can let you know and they will usually offer to ring it up for you at the customer service desk.
The only gray area I have ever encountered is if an item has been consistently out of stock for longer than the rain check is valid. I have only had this happen once and luckily, it was at Publix.
In this particular case, Publix had the 3 and 4 packs of Bic Disposable Razors on sale $5.49 B1G1 free. Also, there was a $3 off Any Bic Disposables coupon in the newspaper that same week, so when you bought 2 razors and used 2 coupons, you would have an overage of 51¢ applied to the rest of your bill. Naturally, this was a very popular item, so they were out of stock on May 4th when I went in to purchase them - so they gave me a rain check. It actually turned out that all Publix stores nationwide ran out of these to the point that their warehouse was completely out of stock and they were waiting on more product from the manufacturer, so no matter how many times I checked, they were never in stock. It wasn't until my trip last week on June 9th that my store finally had them. So, I grabbed my razors and went by the customer service desk before making the actual purchase to see what I needed to do. Due to the fact that the store never had this item in stock during the 30 days my rain check would have been valid, they were happy to honor it for me. In order to do that, the customer service rep actually just wrote me a new rain check with a new date of May 9th on it, so it looked fine for the cashiers as June 9th would have been the last eligible day for my to use it. Then I just went in the checkout line with the rest of my items and the cashier rang everything up just hunky dory. I was even able to use my coupons (which actually expired on June 12!), which was very lucky. I have had it happen that my coupons expired before the item is restocked, but that is just the way it works every now and then. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but at least the store was willing to issue me a rain check for the possibility of the item being there in time.
How do you know when an item is eligible for a rain check?
There is never an exact science about rain checks. There are some times when a rain check is definitely not a possibility - when the item is part of a "door buster" sale or if the ad says "while supplies last". These are prices that can only be locked in if you find the item and purchase it at the date and time specified by the sale and the managers will probably be pretty aggrivated if you ask for a rain check (mostly because 50 people before you have probably already asked for one). Make sure you read your sale ads very well before asking for a rain check just to be sure.
Once you are positive the store hasn't put any stipulation on the item, go and ask for your rain check. I have had it happen that instead of issuing rain checks, the store tries to offer a comparable product at that items' sale price, but usually you can choose which option you want to use.
I hope that this has been somewhat informative. Like I said, I know to some this will be old news, but if you are not used to the idea of freezing your sale prices, you don't know what you're missing! Make sure you ask for a rain check next time an item is out of stock!

How long are rain checks good for?
This is another issue that varies from store to store. At Publix, the rain checks are good for 30 days and at Target they are good for (I think) 60 days or so. Your rain check should clearly state how long the check is good for and if you have any questions, just ask the customer service desk.
