A Day Full of Deals

Well, I began my shopping trip at Target to check if they had the Neutrogena bars back in stock, and they didn't. But I finally decided to do the Febreze Gift Card Deal. So, I did the Febreze items first in one transaction and then used the $5 gift card on my next transaction of all my other stuff.

So, after using my $5 gift card, I paid $14.59 for everything. Not too bad being that I didn't plan for this trip and it's mostly items I just wanted :)

Then I went to Home Depot to snag my 40 lbs of charcoal for $7.97 when I found this beautiful site:

So after my $5 off $30 Winn Dixie coupon, I only paid 9.74! The pre-coupon and pre-sale total would have been $52.41 :) Not too shabby. And I got to finally use my Free pretzels coupon I've been holding onto in hopes of getting 2 for free :) And I did!

I finished off my trip by going to Aldi to get some milk :) I'm pretty happy with all my deals even though I did pay a little out of pocket. I think the overall value is pretty good for what I paid :)

Fantabulous Food! Santa Fe Cheesy Chicken Stir-Fry

My husband and I have been making an effort to eat healthier, so the first place I went was my Hungry Girl 1-2-3: The Easiest, Most Delicious, Guilt-Free Recipes on the Planet recipe book he got me for Christmas last year. I have a lot of fun with this book and everything we have tried out of it has been great. So, when I needed a quick meal on Monday night, I thought this one sounded good... and I was not wrong :)

Hungry Girl Santa Fe Cheesy Chicken Stir-Fry:

This recipe is for one person, so I doubled everything for our dinner for two.

• 4 oz raw, boneless skinless lean chicken breasts, chopped
• 2 tbsp canned black beans, drained and rinsed
• 1/2 tbsp chopped cilantro
• 1/2 tsp lime juice
• 1/8 tsp chili powder
• 1/8 tsp salt
• 2 dashes ground cumin
• 2 dashes black pepper
• 1/4 cup frozen corn
• 1/4 cup thinly sliced onion
• 1/4 cup thinly sliced red bell pepper
• 1/4 cup shredded fat-free cheddar cheese
• 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
• 2 crunched up tortilla chips, optional

1. In a bowl, combine chicken, beans, cilantro, lime juice, chili powder, salt, cumin, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

2. Bring a skillet sprayed with nonstick spray to medium-high heat. Add corn, onion, and bell pepper. Stirring frequently, cook for 4-5 minutes until onion softens.

3. Add chicken mixture and, stirring occasionally, cook for 5 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.

4. Add cheese and tomatoes and stir until cheese starts to melt. Optional: sprinkle crushed up tortilla chop over mix. Enjoy immediately!

I know the picture looks kind of like a bowl of weird mush, but this was seriously delicious. Trust me - why else would I post a recipe this simple? :) It only took about 15 minutes and it was a great, healthy dinner (only 256 calories per recipe!) I have a feeling I will be posting more of these simple, healthy recipes in the future, so check back each week!

On a side note - do you like this format for the recipes better? I started looking through some of my previous posts and realized that all the pictures can cause a bit of confusion. So, should I take more pictures or less? Or maybe in the middle? Let me know what you think!

Well, I will admit - I have been trying to avoid going to Walmart for quite a while but there were just too many coupons for free items that were going to expire tonight so I bit the bullet and went. In spite of my usual unhappy, unfriendly, un-coupon-accepting cashier - seriously, how do I always get the exact same woman?! - I managed to pull in a big haul. Also, my overall total was high, but that's because I shopped with my husband and he got several items that were full price (what can you do?). So here is everything I managed to get:

Today was the last day to purchase items for this rebate, but I will get $1.62 back in the mail.

So,  for everything you see, my pre-coupon total would have been $125.74, but I only paid $47.24! And that's not even counting the pre-clearanced price savings I got on the toothbrushes and Olay and such. When you take into account that my husband's stuff was $34.73, that means if I had only stuck to my clearance and coupon items my total would have been $12.51! Wahoo! That's pretty awesome for that much stuff, I must say. Oh, wait! We can also add back the mail in rebates I will receive and that puts my total down to $6.41! Man, that's pretty impressive - that's a savings of 93% and at Walmart of all places :)

**Just to let you know, I searched the store over for several other items that I had posted about on the blog because others were finding the items to get them free. These are the items that the Titusville Walmart does not carry:

• ThermaCare 2 packs
• Advil Purse Bottle
• Travel Size Colgate Sensiive Pro-Relief Toothpaste
• Ambi Skincare Products
• Travel Size Clean & Clear Body Wash.

I may swing by a different Walmart tomorrow to check on these items, but the Titusville definitely doesn't have them right now - there weren't even empty spaces where they might have been. I'll let you know if I find them elsewhere.

Lucky Target Trip

So, I went by Target today and came out with a deal I never thought I'd find :)

• 4 large pump bottles of Pantene Shampoo, clearance $1.46 - Used two $3 off 2 Pantene Products coupon from the newspaper = 4 for Free + 16¢ overage
• 2 trial size 3 packs of Cascade ActionPacs, 97¢ - Used two $1 off Any Cascade coupons from the 7/31 PG (expire today) = 2 for Free + 6¢ overage
• 2 boxes of 24 Ziploc Double Lock Bags Gallon Size, clearance $1.88 - Used $1 off 2 coupon from the newspaper = $1.38 each

Surprisingly, all of these coupons went through with no problems or beeping - which is very refreshing. Has anyone else noticed - pretty much every coupon seems to beep and ask the cashier if you actually purchased that item. At least it does for me anyway. I feel bad for the cashiers, it's like the need 3 hands. I only got 2 of the Cascade because that was all that was left. The man in front of me at the checkout line had about 20 of them, so I guess it was lucky I got the ones I did. That was pretty excessive though, especially seeing that the same coupon was put into the PG insert that came out this last Sunday, so he would have been able to get more later. Plus he had to split this into like 5 transactions so it took forever. Moral of the story - Don't Be A Shelf Wiper!

All in all, I technically made money off my purchases today when you count the $2 ecbs I got back from CVS :) Can't beat that!
