This year, we were lucky enough to be able to attend the annual Florida Corgi Picnic :) And it was a blast! I'm not sure you know, but I am crazy about my corgi. He is truly my child. So, when we heard about this event, we knew it was the place for us :)
We started off the day with the competitions and we had entered Gordo in the Best Fluffy Butt category. Here we are in the judging ring:
We were sure he would win until we saw the competition:
I have to say, that is definitely a fluffy butt. He was the clear winner. After the contests, we had lunch - this is no easy task while sitting o the ground in a field full or hungry corgis; a dog named Milo had a nice bite of Justin's sandwich. But we managed to do actual 'picnicing' at the picnic, which is good :)
After lunch, the dogs all played while we mingled.
Gordo was mostly interested in smelling the other dogs, but he did run around a little bit with this pack. Meanwhile, they had auctions on corgi related items to benefit Corgi Aid.
We even got to visit with our breeder so she could see Gordo. She hasn't seen him since we picked him up in July of 2009, so it was very nice to see her again.
All in all, it was a very fun event and it was so neat to see so many corgis in one place - and to hear all their barks at once was pretty funny :)
Gordo had a blast and so did we. We can't wait for next year's picnic :)
In fact, Gordo had a little too much fun it seems :) This was how he sat the whole hour drive home.
Thank you Celeste and Lee for all that you did to organize this year's event! And thank you for Gordo :) He's a wonderful dog!
