WIP ... Thursday (oops!): New Beginnings and Running Out of Time!

Well, my weird work schedule has me literally not realizing what day of the week it is, lol, so this post is technically a day late. Better late than never!
I've finished knitting all the body pieces of my bear, but now I have to sew him together - yikes! Look at all those pieces. Sheesh. I tried to line them up at least somewhat like they will be on the body for the photo. The lighter brown pieces on the limbs will be the pads of the feet and arms and then the one on the face is the muzzle. I've really gotta get crack-a-lackin' on this baby though, since my mom comes home this weekend and I still haven't made his outfit! Hopefully I can get a move on :)
And I've officially swatched for the outfit along (#OAL2014). I've had to go up 2 full needle sizes to get gauge, and since that's the same thing I had to do on My First Sweater, I'm thinking this will be a consistent norm for me and anything that needs to fit. I'm still not 100% in love with the fact that my yarn is kind of creamy colored, but I've read up on how wool is bleached (oddly enough, you use hair bleaching peroxide!) and I may try a mild solution on the finished sweater. I didn't want to do anything yet because it occurred to me that part of the color may be from dirt/solutions that they put on the wool to put through the winding machine. I doubt it will make a huge difference, but I want to just wash the yarn before I start breaking out the peroxide. I'm very excited about my Myrna Cardigan :) I think I'm going to omit the little peek-a-boo hole at the upper back though - it's just not me. And as a perk, it will make the knitting easier, lol.
I just started listening to The Mermaid by Lily Dougall a day ago. This book is from the late 1800s and the thought of that just appeals to me. It's in no way a popular book nowadays, but when I came across the title on Librivox.org I decided to give it a whirl.
So that's all for this week :) Head over to Tami's Amis' Blog to see what others are up to as well!
