Sometimes the sock bug just bites you, and when you can't access all of your stash easily, socks can be just the ticket for a portable project to keep you knitting.
I've loved the Film Reel Socks pattern by Alex Parker Mooney for a while now, so when I saw it was changed to be free instead of paid, I immediately grabbed this yarn from my stash and cast on.
The focal point of this project is the Knit Picks Stroll Hand Painted yarn in the Home Movie colorway. I think it really makes for the perfect film stills. I paired that with Hobbii Silly Sock Disco in black and white, which always works out great.
This was my first time doing a German short row heel, and it went pretty well. I did forget to go down a needle size on the body of the sock and up for colorwork - I accidentally stayed with the larger needle on the heels, and it does make them a bit loose. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but something to pay more attention to next time.
All in all, this was a quick and satisfying project - coming in at just over a week to make the pair! I'm so glad I had these to work on when I couldn't be in my house.
Check out my sock video at the bottom of this page for even more details on these socks :)
