This pair started off with the yarn. I grabbed this Knit Picks Muse Hand Painted yarn in the summer sale and I was just really drawn to this Joyous colorway. It's kind of like muted fruity pebbles. I really wanted to make up this yarn, but having made so many simple socks lately I wanted to do something different to make this yarn shine.
So I chose to knit up the Scatterby Socks, a free pattern by Amy Stringer. This is a simple 4 row repeat for the texture that makes all the colors dance around on the front and avoids any unintentional pooling.
It's funny that these pictures washed out the colors so much - in real life they are much closer to that first photo - but this picture shows the texture so well. These were knitted from the toe up, which was an interesting change since I've mostly knit cuff down.
This pattern also has you use the Fish Lips Kiss Heel, so I did the whole shebang. I made a cardboard cut out of my foot and everything, yet I still wound up with the socks being just a smidge too long. Oh well, it's not very noticeable when you wear them, just interesting to note since I went to all that effort to get a good fit, lol.All in all, I love these socks. I wore them on my recent trip to Ohio when it was chilly, and they kept my feet nice and warm and comfy.
Check out my sock video at the bottom of this page for even more details on these socks :)
