*Expired*Giveaway - Finding Coupons: Blinkie Boxes and Peelie Pads

One of the common questions I have gotten when polling various coupon newbies is, "Where do you find those coupons?" Once you start couponing, you will notice that coupons can literally be found everywhere and anywhere! You just have to know where to look for them, so the Finding Coupons segments will be devoted to telling you specific places that are tried and true coupon homes.


So, this week I didn't make my usual post on Tuesday because ... well let's just call it fate. That sounds better :) I actually had prepared a different segment of Finding Coupons for this week, but I was struck with a genius idea while at the store today and I had to put it up now!


One of the easiest places to find coupons is at your local grocery store. If you are observant, you will notice that they are hiding all over the place in there! At the front of the store, in front on displays, on products and much more! It makes things so much easier when the coupon is on the item you want :)


What are Blinkie Boxes?

This may not be what you call them, but I lovingly refer to them as Blinkie Boxes. These are put out by Smart Source and they can be found in random places all throughout the store but always in front of the item the coupon is for. The nice thing about these is that they blink to grab you attention :) So even if you are not looking for them, they will make their presence known. These little babies are programmed to spit out a coupon every 30  to 60 seconds (I think - I didn't time them). However, if the coupons haven't been pulled in a short while and you pull one out for yourself, it will immediately spit out another one to replace it. So, I always grab 2 of these coupons when it's an item I want. After that first 2 being taken out, it will kind of reset and not put another out for about 1 minute, this way no one can take all of the coupons at once :) Everyone has a chance to get one.


What are Peelie Pads?

Peelie Pads are another things very similar to Blinkie Boxes, except without the actual box. It is just a stack of printed coupons held together by a thin layer of a glue-like coating at the top so you can easily peel one off for yourself to use. The good and bad thing about peelie pads is there usually is no object or person there to police them, so you never know how many everyone will take. I like to treat these like blinkie boxes: I take my 2 coupons and leave the rest for the next savvy shopper, but this is not a rule. You have to use your own judgement for what is acceptable.


How do you know if your store will have these?
There really is no definite answer to this other than just going to your local grocer and looking around. Be observant and if any of these types of coupons are available, you will notice them as you walk around. If you don't see any, you can also go and nicely ask a worker and they will let you know whether your store has them currently if ever and they will probably point you toward one they remember.
