WIP Thursday: New Year, New Sweater

Well, I'm late already and it's the beginning of the year, lol. Yesterday I was running around and just didn't get to photograph my WIP of the week. So, you're getting it today!
I'm making a sweater! I'm making it with the My First Sweater Craftsy class - I've chosen to make the cardigan version with a long collar. The cardigan itself is just a basic stockinette stitch design with a ribbed edge - can't get much easier than that. Technically speaking, this isn't my 'first' sweater, but the other has hit a serious snag and isn't finished. So, I'll probably end up finishing this first, bumping it into the correct place for its name, lol.
I'm actually incredibly proud/surprised at how much progress I've made on this already! I just swatched Christmas night after receiving my new needle set and cast on by the 28th, and I've already used up 1 full skein of yarn. The yarn is Lion Brand Wool Ease in Navy and I'm making a size large, which calls for 6 skeins in the pattern, so basically I'm 1/6th finished and I've only been making it for 5 days, lol. Not bad, right? I've reached about 13 inches overall, so only 2 more inches and I will start decreasing for the raglan sleeves - exciting!

Even though I've gotten so far, my pace will sadly slow after today. Not only do I go back to work tomorrow (oh lovely 3 days off in a row!), but I have some requested items to make for others that are time sensitive. At least they are small things :) I do hope to finish this sweater within the next 2 months so that I can actually wear it this year - Florida has a small sweater wearing temperature window to work with. I think this is doable though :)

That's all I've got this week. Happy 2014! And head over to Tami's Amis' Blog to see what others are working on.
