Incredibly Successful Day at Publix!

Since today was Publix's big 50% off Kelloggs cereal sale, I decided to finally use my $5 off $50 coupon to my advantage. I will confess, I was in the store for over an hour making sure I was doing everything as well as possible. I have to say, I don't think I did too bad :)

• 2 boxes of Crunchy Nut Cereal, $4.09 for 2 - Used $1.50 off 2 coupon from 7/10 RP insert = $1.30 each
• 2 boxes of Rice Krispies, $4.09 for 2 - Used $1 off 2 coupon from inside Kellogg's cereal boxes = $1.55 each
• 2 boxes of Smart Start, $4.29 for 2 - Used two 70¢ off Any Kellogg's Cereal at Publix Peelie coupons = $1.45 each
• 2 boxes of Apple Jacks, $4.39 for 2 - Used two 70¢ off Any Kellogg's Cereal at Publix Peelie coupons = $1.50 each
• 2 boxes of Corn Pops, $4.09 for 2 - Used two 70¢ off Any Kellogg's Cereal at Publix Peelie coupons = $1.35 each
• 2 boxes of Fiber Plus Cereal, $4.19 for 2 - Used $1 off Fiber Plus Cereal coupon from inside Kellogg's Cereal boxes and 70¢ off Any Kellogg's Cereal at Publix Peelie coupon = $1.25 each
• Jet Puffed Marshmallows, 2 for $3 - Used Free Marshmallows wyb Any 2 Rice Krispies Cereals peelie coupon (up to $1.50 value) = Free
• Crest Pro Health Fresh Mint Toothpaste, $2.50 each - Used two 75¢ off Any Crest Toothpaste coupons from 7/2 PG insert = $1.75 each
• Crest Tartar Control + Whitening, $2.50 - Used 75¢ off Any Crest Toothpaste coupon from 7/2 PG insert = $1.75
• 4 Papermate Pen 2 packs, 2 for $1 - Used two $1 off Any Papermate Product Target printable coupons = 4 for Free
• 4 Bic Mechanical Pencil 10 packs, 3 for $3 - Used two $1 off 2 printable coupons (no longer available) and $1 off 2 Target printable coupon = 4 for $1 
• 4 bottles of Huberts Strawberry Lemonade, 2 for $3 - Used 3 Free printable coupons (no longer available) and one $1 off printable coupon = 4 for 50¢
• International Delights Bréve Creamer, $2.15 - Used Free coupon from Vocal Point = Free
• 2 bottles of Tropicana Pure Premium Orange Juice, 2 for $6 - Used $1 off 2 coupon from the newspaper = $2.50 each
• 1 dozen 4 Grain Eggs, 2 for $4 = $2.00
• Rainier Cherries, $5.99 B1G1 - Used $1 off Any Fresh Fruit wyb 2 Select Kelloggs Cereals peelie coupons = $1.99 each

So, for everything you see, the total before coupons and sales would have been $122.37. After all my coupons, I only paid $30.76! Woo hoo :) Also, I found a peelie coupon on a display last week that said get a $5 Publix gift card wyb 3 Always, Gilette, Tampax of Crest products. So, I received a $5 gift card for purchasing the 3 tubes of toothpaste :)

When I got home with my purchases and told my hubs about the sweet cereal deal, he said he wanted a few more boxes of Smart Start. So, I went to the Publix on Knox McRae :)

• 2 boxes of Apple Jacks, $4.39 for 2 - $2.20 each
• 2 boxes of Rice Krispies, $4.99 for 2 - Used $1 off 2 coupon from inside Kellogg's cereal boxes = $1.99 each
• 3 Bananas, 69¢ per lb or 94¢ - Used $1 off Any Fresh Fruit wyb 2 Select Kelloggs Cereals peelie coupon = Free + 6¢ overage
• Box of Special K Bars, $3.19 - Used $2 off Special K Bars wyb Special K Cereal coupon from Special K coupon booklet I found in the store a few months ago = $1.19 
• Jet Puffed Marshmallows, 2 for $3 - Used Free Marshmallows wyb Any 2 Rice Krispies Cereals peelie coupon (up to $1.50 value) = Free

So, my pre-coupon and sale total would have been $49.87. After my coupons, my total was $19.10 and I used my $5 gift card I got earlier so I only paid $14.10!

Now, I fully realize you may think I'm completely insane for purchasing so much cereal for just 2 people. In my defense we do love our cereal, but more than that there was a promotion I wanted to take advantage of :) Many Kelloggs cereals and other products are specially marked with cars 2 pictures on them. These boxes all have codes inside that can be redeemed for prizes. I did this deal with the NutriGrain Bars a while back, but you can redeem up to 30 codes for this promotion. So, out of all the cereals I got today, 12 of them had codes in them. 12 codes will get me 3 $5 visa cards :) So technically, you couls take another $15 off my total for my trips. So, if you are a Sunday shopper (which I am not), I highly suggest you go take advantage of this cereal sale. Not only is it a good deal, but you can redeem them for gift cards, get free marshmallows, and get free fruit if you have the right coupons :)  Keep in mind this is a great opportunity to get a good deal on some of the cereals that never seem to go on sale or have coupons available, like me with the Smart Start. Also, cereal is good for at least a year, so it is a great food storage item!
